Meaghan and Brandon have been together for a long time. We met near the end of high school in Santa Barbara, CA, at a party with our friends. We spent time together for about year before our relationship grew into something more. After that, it was time for college, and we decided to try a long-distance relationship. Due to our one-year age difference, Brandon started college first at CalPoly San Luis Obispo. It was only 100 miles away, and Meaghan visited almost every weekend!
After that, the distance started increasing. Meaghan went to UC Davis, and then to graduate school in Massachussets, and then the Caribbean. We managed to cope with being so far apart by talking on Skype as often as we could (yay internet!). Long distance wasn't easy but it was worth it.
Eventually, we got to live together in San Luis Obispo with our cat, Nora. We knew we wanted to stay there after Meaghan finished vet school. Our favorite place to vacation is nearby in Big Sur. Brandon planned to propose there, but by the time we were ready, Big Sur had been closed by flood damage. Instead we camped in Santa Cruz where Brandon proposed at the end of a hike, on the top of a hill, with a beautiful scenic view of Redwood trees.
It's been a nineteen-year-long journey, but we're grateful and happy to have found each other.
